Bending "Pt.1"

 
Introduction :

•We saw in previous chapters that we can sort the loads that act on the truss or system .
•If the system loads by a moment on its sides this named (bending) .
•And this system can be named as a(beam) .
The beam bends around the normal axis  (z) .

BENDING

It’s the straining of metal around a straight axis . During this process , the metal on the inside of the neutral axis is compressed , while the metal on the outside of the neutral axis is compressed , while the metal on the outside of the neutral axis is stretched .

First we should have a reference to calculate the moment .


In these two previous cases the moment is positive according to the right hand rule .



In pure bending moment ,There are some asumptions:
1) The normal lines remain normal .
2) Thin structure .
3) Small deflection < thickness .
